Weekend smoothies are easy- nice relaxing way to spend the morning or 1 am depending on when you first buy the ingredients – now tomorrow- at 6 am- am I gonna make another one? Maybe I’ll make it at night and hope its not too unsettled to drink in the morning

Bekah hasn’t confirmed that this is in fact her- but I’m so proud of our little cub. She’s come a long way from drawing people in form of their nick names- teddy bear steelman, the steak man….(if only I could find these images).

Apps and butt

I tried out my new Nike app recently only to rediscover I have no leg strength. None. Put me on a treadmill and I’ll be happy but some of these ‘better Butt’ jumps and squats- lets just say I sadly couldn’t make it to the end of the 15 minute work out

After ten minutes I had to switch to the ‘Ab Lab’ which brought me back to college when Ezra, Karl and I ( maybe Alex too) tried the schools ‘Fab Ab’ class…twice- it was hard enough to motivate to walk toward the gym – but I’ll never forget Karl’s sweat bands wallet chain and tube sock outfit.
Anyone have a treadmill they’ll sell me?

Evan accomplishes more things in a day than I can in a month (or two). This latest venture- the horse in motion tattoo collaborative had its viewing last night @ EM gallery.

While I don’t have any tattoos I love the concept of bringing people together, tying them together by the story the tattoos tell collectively

While all of these people know each other- I just keep thinking of the next larger scale tattoo collaborative and can’t wait to see who steps forward to be apart of it.

Saturday was too nice to spend in doors – I kind of did though- going from thrift store to thrift store- found a few things but nothing you’d be excited about.
There’s sometimes that awkward moment, where you and a random shopper are hitting up stores in the exact same order – should you carpool? – is their a listing on Craig’s list for this? It’s bad when they start talking to you and the creepy vibe comes out- not all the time juuuust yesterday!

Afterwards I set out to make caramel delights from scratch. If you care to listen I’m about to tell you about them- and let you know ahead of time- never making these guys again.

1. Make short bread cookies
- I’ve never made cookies before/ rolled out the dough. There was a learning curve. The apartment is hot so at one point the dough went In the freezer. If not the buttery dough just melted and became goo.
Trial and error- again another recipe calling for milk- which I luckily did not add. Had I done so the dough would have been soup not frozen goo

My oven is small so while the first batch was baking I rolled and cut the next- using a vintage wine glass as my cookie cutter. (I actually needed something even smaller). And while the second batch was baking I started to toast the coconut at the same time. DELICIOUS SMELL!!! I probably disturbed the cookies bc you need to toss the coconut every five minutes. If my house could smell of toasted coconut at all times I’d be up for it!!! (sans any toxic fabreeze type chemical).
It’s true- once the coconut starts toasting you have to watch out- no one wants burnt coconut.
- note I used unsweetened coconut because I knew these cookies were gonna be rich
Step 3. Melt down caramel- I had planned on makin my own caramel but the recipe I followed suggested caramel chews.

This moment quickly and accidentally turned in to a race- who has the nimblest hands in all the…. Apartment- Greg or julien.
Greg won by unwrapping two more than me. I contribute this win to his warm up as he had started peeling wrappers a few before I jumped in.

Mix the melted caramel and coconut
-note I melted on the stove instead of microwave so I could keep the caramel mixture warm while spreading.
The recipe calls to toss back in microwave and rewarm which I didn’t want to do.
Spread on cookies- which actually did not work for me. I ended up spooning a dollop on each cookie then Waiting for the hot mixture to cool ( while eggplant parm was in the oven) and coming back to smoosh the mixture down with wax paper

At this point I needed a break so I made dinner-

And finally melt chocolate dip bottoms – have a hard time. Turn them up side down put in fridge and finally squeeze some chocolate on top and run to art opening. I thought they tasted good.
I also had a sugar crash- as every time I put a spoonful of caramel mixture on the cookies I ate the remainder-
If I ever made them again I’d use store bought sugar cookies and pre toasted coconut.
